Jan Chamberlain
I am the Owner/Operator of Memory Garden Retreats. I launched this unique retreat experience in 2008 as a tribute to my late husband, George. I am excited to be back in business and am looking forward to helping those experiencing loss of a loved one.
I am an experienced mother, wife, teacher, workshop leader, and facilitator. Through my love of chidlren I worked as an elementary public school teacher, Cub Scouts leader and swimming instructor, coordinator of Big Sisters and coordinator of volunteers for the Children's Aid Society within the Owen Sound community. As my own children grew up, I moved to helping adults with their careers. I co-founded Creative Career Systems, a skills upgrading and consulting firm. More recently I was awarded the Owen Sound Volunteer of the Year Award for my contributions to this community and especially the Homecoming 150 Celebration.
Annabelle Garland
I am one of the core workshop leaders for Memory Garden Retreats. I am a psychotherapist and grief counsellor. I received my Masters of Counselling with a speciality in counselling psychology from the Campus Alberta, a combined program of the Universities of Calgary, Athabasca and Lethbridge in Alberta.
My area of counselling focuses on helping individuals with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, childhood issues, self-esteem, accident, disability, pain or illness, rehabilitation, aging and life transition and relationships. I incorporate a variety of modalities including hypnosis to facilitate change. I also work with issues such as anger management, body image, weight and smoking cessation. Believing in the power of each individual I teach individuals how to access their own internal resources and teach self-management skills.

Marie Knapp
I am one of the core workshop leaders for Memory Garden Retreats. My focus in life is helping others to uncover their courage in order to live with purpose and balance, to connect with others in healthy ways, to remove blocks and encumbrances to their success and healthy living, to live well with stress, and to develop and maintain a spiritual life connection.
I am an experienced mother, wife, nurse, teacher, workshop leader, and facilitator. I am a Registered Nurse, having graduated from St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and completed a BScN at the University of Western Ontario. In 1991, my doctoral dissertation (University of Toronto, Doctor of Education) examined how people make deliberate changes in their lives related to what is meaningful to them. This theme has permeated much of my life experience since that time.
